CPAP & Automatic CPAP

The main difference between Automatic CPAP and CPAP machines is how air pressure is chosen. CPAP machines are at a fixed pressure while Automatic CPAPs adjust to different pressures automatically.

CPAP machines deliver a continuous, steady stream of pressurized air that keeps your airways from collapsing and causing apnea events while Bipap machines which on the other hand have two pressures settings, the prescribed pressure for inhalation (ipap), and a lower pressure for exhalation (epap). The dual settings allow the patient to get more air in and out of their lungs.
